The Crit #20: Bees Don’t Wear Shoes

After a lean May (with our team’s attention occupied elsewhere), we’re happy to announce that The Crit is back with a bonus episode!

Our regular programming will resume later in June following next week’s Salone del Mobile, but in the interim we’re happy to share an exclusive interview with artist Alexandra Daisy Ginsberg.

Recorded last week at the Eden Project in Cornwall, the conversation focuses on Ginsberg’s Pollinator Pathmaker project: a commission from Eden that has seen Ginsberg develop an algorithm to create gardens that are not designed for human aesthetic appreciation, but rather to appeal to the sensory apparatus of pollinators.

The project raises questions around the potential for creative practitioners to engage with issues such as extinction and climate change, interspecies design, and creating a work over an extended period of time. Further information about Pollinator Pathmaker can be read here.
