Event Invitation: Muse, Speak! Inspiration in design
Join Disegno during the 2024 London Design Festival for Muse, Speak! Inspiration in design, a panel discussion hosted in conjunction with BLOND.
Muse Speak! explores the topic of inspiration in the design process: from physical artefacts dematerialising into digital form, to flea shop relics resurrecting in new product typologies. What does it mean for one design to inspire another, and how do our memories of design’s past help shape its present realities? The panel talk accompanies the BLOND LABORATORY exhibition, which sees designers respond to a collection of found everyday objects.
The panel discussion will feature V&A curator and journalist Anna Bates; designer Ella Bulley; BLOND’s founder and creative director James Melia; and designer John Tree. The event will be moderated by Disegno’s editor-in-chief, Oli Stratford.
The evening will also mark the launch of Disegno #38, the latest issue of the Journal of Design, which is devoted to a series of short stories exploring the role of memory in design, highlighting practitioners such as cave_bureau, Christien Meindertsma, Folkform, ANO, Industrial Facility and Stephen Burks Man Made, among others. Stay tuned to disegnojournal.com next week when we’ll be revealing more details about the new issue.
