Farewell 2022, Bring On 2023!

We’ve made it to the end of 2022 – congratulations everyone! The Disegno team are turning off the office fairy lights and locking up our real office once more this year. It’s been a big one for the Quarterly Journal of Design and we’re now looking forward to what 2023 has to offer.

For anybody who needs a reminder, we launched Disegno #32, Disegno #33 and Disegno #34, as well as creating the inaugural edition of our brand new publication, Design Reviewed, which explores design’s social, cultural and political entanglements from the perspective of its users. If you’re in the mood, all four publications that we’ve produced this year are available in our online store.

Alongside our core publications, we were also excited to partner with Het Nieuwe Instituut on Design Drafts, an experimental publication devoted to new voices in design writing; with Map Project Office on Where Next?, a podcast devoted to design’s role in shaping the future of technology and infrastructure; and AHEC for our forestry and timber podcast Words on Wood, which won the Best Podcast prize in the 2022 Archiboo Awards. Finally, we’ve been keeping busy with our creative agency Disegno Works, which you can find out more about here.

The Disegno team will be back on 3 January (with preparations for Disegno #35 already underway), but if you’re after additional content in the interim, why not check out our selection of online stories? And if you’re more audio-inclined, we would suggest listening to the most recent episode of our editorial podcast The Crit: it’s our annual review episode, looking back on some of the key design stories that sum up this wild and tumultuous year.

Thank you to all of our subscribers for their support this year – we can't wait to share our plans for 2023 with you. And to share some of your plans, projects or stories that you’d like to suggest for the spring 2023 issue, reach out to us at submissions@disegnojournal.com.

We wish everybody a happy and healthy holiday!
